My Top 5 Free* iPhotography Apps for Your Phone!
*We’re poor students; we can’t afford to buy food, never mind apps!
All of the info in this blog post comes from the finest pool of resources I have, my friends! They’re deadly bunch of people (no bias, I swear!), but they’re also a fairly creative bunch!
So, I've asked them to tell me the best photography/editing apps on their phone! Now that (almost) everyone’s got a Smartphone of some kind, the new trend of ‘iPhotography’ has emerged!
Believe me, I know you want to bring your DSLR everywhere with you and I also feel guilty as anything when I have to leave my Nikon home alone but for those times, it's these apps that I turn to!
So, here are the top 5 iPhotography apps within my bunch of friends:
Well, this was always going to happen! With over 150 million downloads to date, Instagram is the number 1 app for taking, editing and sharing photographs all over the world. With its vintage filters and novelty frames, Instagram also gives you the option to add a caption (& maybe even a hashtag! #NoJoke) and share the picture within the app. I'm not so sure about the new 'Direct Share' option to send people pictures directly, you’re not SnapChat!
But you all knew that, right? Let’s get onto the other apps!
We all know and love Adobe’s Photoshop, but did you know you could have it's mobile version on your phone, for free? Me neither! Well, not until I accidentally downloaded it and then pretended I meant to! Although some of the features have to be bought in app, most of the basic ones are 100% free! Between adjusting exposure, contrast, sharpness, white balance and all of those other things you don’t think of when using your phone to take snap, this app allows you to touch them up, save them and share them, hassle free!
Although the name isn't the most glamorous, this is definitely one of my favourite apps whether the pictures are for Instagram or for printing! This app does what you can spend hours trying to do on Photoshop but in a much less complicated fashion, this allows you to put your photo into black and white while keeping certain elements in colour. This app is really simple to use and it also gives you the option to save or share it however you like!
This app is for those of us who don't (yet) have an iPhone 5 or above.. Yeah yeah, those of you who do can go onto the next app and bragging rights go to you! Anyway, seeing as us 4s holders can't take Panoramic photos with the built in camera, with this app we can! Woohoo! Basically, PhotoSynth works the same way as taking any panoramic photo but it takes several still shots and stitches them together, and it does so very well and completely seamlessly! Plus its free, unlike the iPhone 5! Yeah, I'm just trying to make myself feel better for not having one.. but anyway, this app is really cool!

Here's my attempt at a Panoramic shot with PhotoSynth, not half bad! |
Because who doesn’t love a good photo collage? This is a real does-what-it-says-on-the-tin app. Its got some annoying pop-up ads but you get over it if you’re not using it all the time! While its fairly basic, you can stick filters etc on each picture and it saves them in a square so they're Instagram-ready!
So, there you go! Now you have no excuse not to snap, edit and share you best iPhotography photos! Feel free to comment below and tell me your favourite photography apps!
